When Tesla should do the work

Some jobs belong at Tesla, and we will say so. Repairs covered by Tesla's warranty, including the longer coverage on the battery and drive unit, go to Tesla. So do recalls, and any repair that needs a software step only Tesla can do.

Book those through the Tesla app. Doing them anywhere else would mean paying for work Tesla owes you.

When an independent shop makes more sense

Once the warranty runs out, or for work the warranty never covered, you have a choice. That includes tires and alignment, brake cleaning and pads, the low-voltage battery, charge port and onboard charger faults, diagnostics on a warning message, and a battery health report when you buy or sell.

It also includes second opinions. If you have a Tesla estimate for an out-of-warranty repair, bring it, and we will give you ours in writing.

How your warranty stays safe

Federal law, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, says a manufacturer cannot void your warranty just because an independent shop did maintenance or repairs. What can be denied is a claim for damage caused by the outside work itself, which is one more reason we check coverage before we touch anything.

Will Tesla refuse warranty work later because I came here?
Not for using an independent shop. Covered parts stay covered. A claim can only be denied if outside work caused the damage, so keep your invoices.
Can you do my Tesla's scheduled maintenance?
Yes. Tesla's maintenance list is short: tire rotations, the cabin air filter and brake fluid checks are among the items in your owner's manual. We follow the schedule in your manual, and in our humidity we also check the brakes for rust and sticking.
What should I bring?
Screenshots of any alerts from the Tesla app or the screen, any Tesla estimate you already have, and the VIN if it is handy. The more we see up front, the clearer your first quote.
Do you work on older Model S and Model X cars?
Yes. Many older Model S and Model X cars are past their basic warranty, and we give you a written price for repairs, tires, brakes and the low-voltage battery. If battery or drive unit coverage still applies, we tell you.
