Go Time Auto Repair

DOT inspection in Miami Gardens

A failed roadside inspection can mean an out-of-service order, a lost load and points on your record, so we run the full annual checklist the way an officer would and hand you a written report either way. GO TIME Auto Repair does annual DOT inspections for trucks, trailers and combinations for owner-operators and small fleets around Miami Gardens, Opa-locka and the port and airport freight lanes.

DOT inspection

  • Annual periodic inspection on trucks, tractors, trailers and combinations, following the federal inspection checklist item by item
  • Brake system, air system and brake adjustment checks, including pushrod stroke and slack adjuster travel
  • Steering, suspension, frame, coupling devices and fifth wheel inspection
  • Tires, wheels, rims and hub checks, with tread depth and wheel fastener condition recorded
  • Lighting, reflectors, wipers, horn, mirrors and glass
  • Exhaust, fuel system and cargo securement points
  • Written report of every item, pass or fail, and a written quote for any repair before it is done

Signs you need this

  • Your annual inspection is due or you cannot find the last report
  • You bought a used truck or trailer and have no idea what it will fail on
  • You got a warning at a roadside stop and want a second set of eyes before the next one
  • Adding a unit to your fleet and need it legal before dispatch

The inspection is a flat written price you see before we start. If the unit needs repairs to pass, those get a separate written quote you approve first, and tax is charged on parts only. Fleet accounts get every inspected unit on one monthly invoice with the reports attached.

Questions people ask

What happens if my truck fails?
You get the written report with every failed item spelled out and a written price to fix it. You decide whether we do the repair or you take it elsewhere. Nothing gets repaired without your approval.
Do you inspect trailers by themselves?
Yes. Dry vans, flatbeds and reefer trailers can come in with or without a tractor. Drop it and pick it up when we call.
Can you inspect my whole fleet?
Yes. Fleet accounts can schedule units in batches so the trucks are not all off the road at once. Reports go in each unit's file and everything lands on one monthly invoice.
Will you tell me what the roadside officers actually look at?
We will. Brakes, tires, lights and load securement are the items that put trucks out of service most often in South Florida, and we walk you through what we saw on yours.
Is the annual DOT inspection the same as the pre-trip?
No. The pre-trip is your daily walk-around. The annual inspection is a full checklist done once every twelve months and documented, and you need proof of it on the vehicle. We give you that documentation.
