Oil change

  • Drain the old oil and replace it with the grade your manufacturer calls for
  • Install a new oil filter and a new drain plug gasket where the design needs one
  • Reset the oil life monitor so the dash reminder is accurate
  • Top off coolant, washer fluid, brake fluid and power steering fluid
  • Set tire pressures for Miami heat, which pushes pressures up in the afternoon
  • Look at belts, hoses and the underside for leaks while the car is on the lift
  • Note anything that will need attention soon so you can plan for it

How the price works

You get a written price before we touch the drain plug. Tax applies to the oil and filter only, not the labor. You also pick the warranty length that fits, 90 days, 1 year or 2 years, and that choice is part of the price you approve.

Questions people ask

Do I need synthetic oil in Miami?
For most cars built in the last fifteen years, yes. Synthetic holds up better in heat, and a Miami engine runs hot in traffic all year. If your owner's manual allows conventional and you drive short distances, we can talk through both options and price them for you.
How often should I change the oil if I drive for Uber or Lyft?
Follow the shorter interval in your manual, often called the severe schedule. Stop-and-go driving on the Palmetto with the AC blasting counts as severe use. Many rideshare drivers are in every 5,000 miles with synthetic.
Can I wait in the shop?
Yes. An oil change is usually done within the hour, so most people wait. If we spot something that needs a longer conversation, we come find you and show you on the car.
Do you check anything else during an oil change?
We do a quick visual of belts, hoses, tires, brakes and leaks while the car is on the lift. It is not a full inspection, but it catches the obvious stuff before it becomes a tow.
What happens with the old oil?
It goes into our waste oil tank and gets picked up for recycling. Nothing goes down a drain or in a dumpster.
