AC work starts with a diagnosis, and the repair is quoted in writing from there. Parts carry sales tax, labor does not. You choose the warranty term on the repair, 90 days, 1 year or 2 years, and the quote shows what each one costs.

Questions people ask

Can you just recharge it?
If it is low, it is leaking. A recharge without finding the leak usually lasts a few weeks in Miami heat and you pay twice. We add dye with the charge so if it does leak again, we find it fast. If the leak is tiny and you understand the tradeoff, we will tell you that too.
Why does my AC work on the highway but not in traffic?
At speed, air rushing through the front of the car cools the condenser. Sitting still, the cooling fans have to do that job. A weak fan, a clogged condenser or a system that is slightly low all show up first in stop-and-go on the Palmetto.
How cold should the vents get?
On a 90 degree day, a healthy system blows about 40 degrees at the center vent after a few minutes. If you are seeing 55 or 60, something is off and worth checking before it fails completely.
What is that musty smell?
Mold and mildew on the evaporator, which lives behind the dash and stays wet in our humidity. A cabin filter change and an evaporator cleaning treatment usually clears it up.
Does the AC affect the engine?
Yes. The compressor runs off the engine belt, and a seizing compressor can shred the belt and leave you stranded. A grinding noise when the AC kicks on should be looked at right away.
