Oil dilution on 2017 to 2018 1.5 turbo

2017 and 2018 CR-Vs with the 1.5 turbo are known for fuel diluting the oil on short cool trips. The level rises and the oil smells like gas. More frequent changes and the software update are the answer.

12V battery drain when parked (2017 and newer)

Fifth generation CR-Vs are known to drain the battery when parked, often tied to a module not sleeping. If yours dies after a few days, ask for a draw test, not just a battery.

Questions people ask

My CR-V groans when I turn in a parking lot. What is that?

On an AWD CR-V that is almost always old rear differential fluid. A drain and fill with the correct Honda fluid fixes it. If it continues after that, we look deeper.

The oil level on my 2017 CR-V is above the full mark.

That is fuel dilution, a known 1.5 turbo issue. Get the oil changed now, ask about the software update, and try to take at least one longer drive a week so the engine gets fully hot.

Why does my CR-V battery keep dying?

On 2017 and newer it is often a parasitic draw, not the battery. We test the draw and the battery together so you fix the right thing.
