How do I know if it is a bearing or a tire noise?
Bearing noise usually changes when you swerve, because weight shifts onto or off the bad bearing. Tire noise stays the same or changes with road surface. We can tell the difference in a road test and on the lift.
Can I keep driving on a bad wheel bearing?
A little hum is a warning. A loud growl with play in the wheel is not safe, because the bearing can seize or the wheel can wobble enough to affect braking and the ABS. Get it checked as soon as you hear it.
Why do bearings fail early in Miami?
Standing water. Driving through flooded streets in the rain season pushes water past the seals, and salt air finishes the job. Potholes and curbs add impact damage.
Should I replace both sides?
