Manual transmission and clutch repair in Plantation

Your clutch grabs clean and the gears go in without a fight. Manuals and clutches usually tell you when something is wrong, with a slip, a grind or a pedal that feels different. We find the cause first, because not every clutch complaint needs a new clutch, and a hydraulic or shifter part is a smaller repair.

Manual transmission and clutch

  • Road test and inspect to find out whether it is the clutch, the hydraulics or the transmission
  • Replace the clutch disc, pressure plate and release bearing
  • Inspect the flywheel and replace it when needed
  • Repair the clutch hydraulics: master cylinder, slave cylinder and fluid
  • Fix worn shifter parts that make it hard to find a gear
  • Diagnose and repair manual transmissions, including worn synchronizers, the parts that match gear speeds
  • Road test before you pick it up

After the road test and inspection, you get a written price before any work, and if the flywheel needs replacing, it is on there too. Sales tax is on parts only, never labor. You pick the warranty length, 90 days, 1 year or 2 years, and the price follows your choice.

Questions people ask

How do I know if my clutch is slipping?
The clearest sign is the engine speed climbing without the car speeding up to match, most often when you accelerate hard in a higher gear. A burning smell after heavy traffic is another clue. Get it checked before it gets worse.
Why is my clutch pedal soft or stuck to the floor?
That usually points to the hydraulic side: low fluid, air in the system or a leaking master or slave cylinder. It is often a smaller repair than a clutch. It is also a safety issue, since you may not be able to get out of gear, so do not wait on it.
Should the flywheel be replaced with the clutch?
Not always. We inspect it when the clutch is out and tell you what we find. Many newer cars use a dual-mass flywheel, a two-piece design that is normally replaced rather than resurfaced when it wears. Either way, you see it on the estimate before we do it.
Is the noise from my clutch or my transmission?
A noise that goes away when you press the pedal often points to a bearing inside the transmission. A noise that starts when you press it often points to the release bearing. A road test tells us for sure.
How long should a clutch last?
It depends on how and where you drive. A clutch is a wear item, like brakes, and stop-and-go traffic on State Road 7 and I-595 wears it faster. Resting your foot on the pedal while you drive shortens its life too.
