Hybrid repair and service in North Miami

Keep your hybrid getting the mileage it was built for, with the hybrid battery healthy and the gas engine maintained on its own schedule. We service the high-voltage system safely, test battery health cell by cell, and handle the things hybrids in Miami struggle with, like clogged battery cooling fans and seized rear brakes.

In writing, first

Hybrid service

  • Test the hybrid battery pack and read the voltage of each cell block
  • Clean or replace the hybrid battery cooling fan and filter, which clog with dust and pet hair
  • Service the inverter coolant system and check the inverter pump
  • Replace 12 volt auxiliary batteries, a common cause of a hybrid that will not start
  • Service brakes, which wear differently on hybrids because of regenerative braking
  • Perform oil changes, plugs and filters on the gas engine at hybrid-specific intervals
  • Diagnose hybrid system warning lights with the right scan tool and safety procedure

Signs you need this

  • The hybrid system warning or red triangle light is on
  • Fuel economy dropped noticeably
  • The gas engine runs more than it used to, even at low speed
  • The battery charge gauge swings fast from full to empty
  • A fan noise from behind the rear seat
  • The car will not go into ready mode

We run the health check first and show you the cell readings, then any repair is written up before work begins. Sales tax applies to parts such as batteries and fans, not to labor. You pick a 90 day, 1 year or 2 year warranty, and the quote shows the price for the one you choose.

Questions people ask

How long does a hybrid battery last?
Many go 150,000 to 200,000 miles. Heat shortens that, and a clogged cooling fan is the biggest cause of early failure here. Keeping the fan clean is cheap and makes a real difference.
Can you replace a hybrid battery?
Yes. We quote new and remanufactured options in writing and explain the tradeoffs. Sometimes one weak module is the problem and a full pack is not needed, and the cell test tells us that.
Why will my hybrid not start when the dash lights up?
Most of the time it is the small 12 volt battery, not the big hybrid battery. The 12 volt battery powers the computers that bring the hybrid system online. It is a quick test and a simple fix.
Do hybrids need oil changes?
Yes. The gas engine still needs oil on schedule, and short trips where the engine barely warms up can be harder on oil, not easier. Follow the interval in your manual and we will track it for you.
Why are hybrid rear brakes always seizing?
Regenerative braking does most of the stopping, so the rear brakes barely get used. In humid, salty air they rust and stick. A brake service to clean and lubricate the slides every year or two prevents it.
Is it safe to work on the high-voltage system?
With the right procedure and equipment, yes. We disconnect and verify the high-voltage system before touching orange-cable components, and we follow the manufacturer's safety steps every time.
