Camrys of most years are known to develop refrigerant leaks at the condenser and evaporator, and the compressor works hard in stop-and-go. Warm air at a light is usually the first sign.

Oil consumption on 2007 to 2011 2.4L

The 2.4L engine in 2007 to 2011 Camrys is known to burn oil as it ages. Check the level every fill-up and keep it full; running low is what kills these engines.

Shudder or hesitation with the 8-speed (2018 and newer)

2018 and newer Camrys with the 8-speed automatic are known to shudder or hesitate at low speed. A fluid service with the correct fluid and a software update often help; we check the transmission before anyone talks about a rebuild.

The 3.5L V6 is known to weep coolant from the water pump around the 100,000 mile mark. A pink crust near the front of the engine is the tell.

Questions people ask

Which oil does my Camry take?

Most 2010 and newer Camrys call for 0W-20 full synthetic. Older ones take 5W-30 or 5W-20. We use what the cap and the manual say, not what is on sale.

Do I really need transmission service? I was told the fluid is lifetime.

In this heat, lifetime means the life of the fluid, not the car. A drain and fill around every 60,000 miles is cheap insurance for the most expensive part of the car after the engine.

Do you work on the Camry hybrid?

Yes. Camry hybrids share most of the car with the regular model. The hybrid battery, inverter cooling, and hybrid-specific brakes are handled under our hybrid service.

What mileage is high for a Camry?

A cared-for Camry runs past 250,000 miles without drama. What kills them here is heat plus skipped oil changes. Keep the oil fresh and the cooling system healthy and it keeps going.
