Does a CVT need special fluid?
Yes. A CVT needs the specific fluid its manufacturer calls for. That fluid does more than lubricate: it helps the belt or chain grip the pulleys, so the wrong fluid can cause shudder and slipping. Tell us if your car has a CVT, or we check for you.
How often does a CVT need a fluid change?
Many manufacturers list a CVT fluid interval, and it is often shorter for severe driving like heavy traffic or towing. Check your owner's manual, or let us look at the fluid and your mileage.
Is it normal for my CVT to sound like it never shifts?
Yes. A CVT has no gear steps, so the engine can hold a steady sound as you speed up, and some are programmed to feel like they shift. A new whine, a shudder or a slipping feeling is not normal.
Can a CVT be rebuilt?
