My tire pressure light came on
A solid light means at least one tire is low, often from a slow leak, a nail, or a big temperature change. A light that flashes for about a minute and then stays on means a sensor problem, usually a dead sensor battery. Either way, check your pressures today.

- 1Check all four tires with a gauge, plus the spare if your car monitors it. Fill to the number on the driver door sticker, not the tire sidewall.
- 2Look for nails, screws, or a bulge on the sidewall. A bulge means replace the tire, do not just fill it.
- 3If one tire keeps losing air, keep an eye on it and come in before it goes flat on the highway.
- 4Drive a few miles after filling. The light may need a short drive to turn off.

Why does the light come on in the morning and go off later?
Air pressure drops when it cools off overnight and rises as the tires warm up. A tire right on the edge will trigger the light early. Add a few pounds and it should stop.
What does a flashing tire pressure light mean?
It usually means a sensor has failed or its battery died. The system cannot watch that tire, so check it yourself until the sensor is replaced.
Can I drive on a low tire?
A few pounds low, carefully, to get air. Very low or flat, no. It can damage the tire and the wheel, and it is dangerous at highway speed.
Do I need new sensors when I get new tires?
Not always. Sensors last many years, but their batteries wear out. If yours are old, it can make sense to replace them while the tires are off. We will tell you what we find.
